Asemic

A large area of investigation within James’s work as a visual poet is asemic writing (or writing without content). This interest is divided between work focusing on the act of writing or mark-making itself and work focusing on the act of seeking out marks made unintentionally by nature or human processes, which can be read as text. James has labelled the latter category as ‘pansemic’ writing.

A micro-chapbook of James’s pansemic poems is available for free download from Ghost City Press’s 2022 Summer Series.
